Blogs-What’s Happening in the GIS World
Question about help with coding. A beginner at vb. I did a query on the street center line file and extracted all the streets that have “ST” for example ST JOHNS AVE.
We have many streets like that. Then in the field calculator I used the replace function to change them to Saint. This however is a two step process. I would like to create a script to do this is in one step. I used 9.3.1 with arc info license. After I perfect it in vb I want to do this in python. What are my best options for help on coding?

Hi,
Without buying Maplex for my Arcgis10 desktop package, is there an open source add-in that can give me more labelling options than the standard editor?
Sign-me Desperate.
Cheers

Probably one of the greatest struggles in the GIS software world is labeling. I’ve seen plenty of pieces of software that have struggled with the technical placement of labels! Check out MapBox and what they can do for labeling. They have been really active lately and there are always new features coming out.
